PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) - The National Coal Heritage Area, the town of Bramwell and the Mercer County Commission have reached an agreement regarding funding for the Bramwell Depot.

The Mercer County Commission allotted $215,000 roughly three years ago for restoration of the roof at the Bramwell Depot. Plans have yet to materialize due to changes in authority.

The money must be spent by the end of calendar year 2026.

Commissioner Greg Puckett said the commission will enter into a cooperative agreement with the town of Bramwell to ensure accountability.

“To make sure that we are accountable and they are accountable, we are going to enter into a cooperative agreement with the town of Bramwell so that that money didn’t get spent on that project,” Puckett said.
