Tracking widespread storm potential Friday, a few could be strong

It will feel more mild than usual this morning due to air temperatures hanging around in the upper 60’s and even the low 70’s in some locations. The reason being that temperatures are so mild is due to the increase in cloud cover that we have across our region. Typically, the cloudier we are in the overnight hours, the warmer we tend to be; the clouds essentially act like a ‘blanket’ and trap all of the outgoing radiation at the surface. As we move through the day, we will see temperatures rise to the low 80’s. We are tracking the potential for afternoon storms, with a few being on the severe side as well. Heavy rain, flash flooding, and strong winds would be the main focal points of concern.

Some of the unsettled weather lingers with us into the start of the upcoming weekend. We are poised to see some scattered strong storms on Saturday. It doesn’t look to be an all day washout as these storms are mainly forecasted to develop in the afternoon, during the peak heating hours of the day.

As we move into the day on Sunday, we will clear out and see a fair bit of sunshine on Sunday. Sunday easily be the pick of the weekend due to the abundance of sun, lack of rain chances, and warmer temperatures.
