Princeton Community Hospital reveals cancer awareness mural
PRINCTON, W.Va. (WVVA) - WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital unveiled a community-created mural during National Cancer Prevention Month in partnership with the Mercer County Coalition for Healthy Communities.

The mural symbolizes hope, prevention and early detection, serving as a visual reminder of the importance of cancer awareness and the region’s shared commitment to reducing cancer risk and improving outcomes across the Two Virginias.
Hospital leadership noted the importance of changing the narrative around cancer care in the region.
Our vision is that the story of cancer in this region will no longer be about high mortality, but about survival, strength, and renewed life.
This mural represents hope for our community and reinforces our commitment to prevention, early detection, and expanding access to high-quality cancer care close to home.
The hospital is constructing a 45,000-square-foot cancer center representing more than $35 million in investment — the largest investment in cancer care ever made in the region. The new facility will allow patients to see their physician and receive treatment in one convenient location.
Hospital leadership, coalition members and community partners gathered to recognize the partnership and collective effort to strengthen cancer prevention and education throughout the region.
