Matt Irvin

Matt Irvin is a life-long broadcaster from Tazewell, VA.
After several years working as an on-air personality in radio, he made the move to
television at WVVA in 2003.
Matt joined the news team in 2005 when he became the first operator of the market's
first satellite uplink truck.
In his time at WVVA, Matt has earned the title of Best Photographer from the West
Virginia Broadcasters Association three times, as well as an EMMY® nomination from
the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Matt has also worked shooting and editing video for newscasts, coordinating and
executing in-the-field broadcasts, and commercial advertisement voice-overs.
Matt is also an FAA licensed part 107 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operator,
bringing an aerial perspective of our community through drone technology, and serves
as WVVA's Drone Operations Manager.
In September of 2022, Matt accepted the position of WVVA’s News Director.
