Jump back in time with the West Virginia Renaissance Festival
LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVVA) - From fire walkers and jousters to mermaids and a harpist. The West Virginia Renaissance Festival has much to offer.
“Renaissance festival is kinda like the state fair in costume. Everyone is dressed in medieval clothing,” said Taso Stavrakis, Owner, West Virginia Renaissance Festival.
This festival is a way to show off talents and to put a spot light on the many craft talents West Virginia natives have to offer.
It’s a craft fair. There is handmade crafts. A glass blower over there demonstrating right now. There’s entertainment, there’s food, and there’s music,” said Taso.
Taso and his partner Dawn have been doing Renaissance festivals around the country for over 40 years and decided to buy land in West Virginia and start their own festival. This is the 4th festival they have held.
“We came and bought property, we live here. This is our farm year round and during the month of June we have our renaissance festival,” said Taso.
