Virginia State Police release the names of victims in I-81 crash

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WVVA) - The Virginia State police have released the names of the three people killed in a two vehicle crash on Friday.

The crash happened on I-81 near mile-marker 64 in Wythe county.

According to police, a Ford Transit E-350 passenger van was traveling south on I-81 when it ran into the rear of a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer was stopped in the left lane due to traffic. The impact of the crash caused the van to run off the road and into the median.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.

There were seven passengers in total in the van, as of this posting, three have been confirmed dead.

Mark E. Williams, 52, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Brittany R. Puckett, 25, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and a two-year-old boy, all died at the scene of the crash. Both adults were not wearing seat-belts; the two-year-old was secured in a child safety seat.

Maryann Bracci, 18, a seven-year-old female, and a five-year-old female were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment to injuries caused by the crash. According to police, all were wearing seat-belts, or age appropriate safety restraints.

The driver and passengers are all related and the accident is still under investigation.
