BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - Bus drivers provide an essential service for people with transportation challenges. Some simply don’t have a vehicle. However, others couldn’t drive even if they did, like people with diminished vision.

It was just such a rider Bluefield Area Transit driver Della Clark helped last week.

After turning around, Clark positioned her bus to protect that passenger from oncoming traffic, making sure the rider made it home safely. Bluefields’ city board acknowledged Clark’s actions in a meeting this week, saying she’s an example of the best in citizens of Bluefield.

Clark says looking out for her passengers is what she does because she genuinely loves the people who ride her bus.
