BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - With frigid conditions continuing, it’s important to protect your pets from the elements. They can be as vulnerable as we are when it comes to cold-weather injuries.
The best thing to do is to take them inside where it is warm. If your dog has to be outside, follow this advice to protect them.
According to Brittany Burnopp, a veterinary assistant, animals also need to eat well to keep up their body temperature so it’s okay to let them eat a little more if they want to during the winter months.
Your dogs can suffer serious injury and even death if you don’t provide a warm space for them when it’s extremely cold.
If you see a dog that is left in the elements, you can call animal control or your local sheriff and they will take action.
