PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) - A man was arrested on Tuesday after police said he attacked his father with a knife.

A responding officer found the pair on the ground in a struggle at a home on Thorn Street in Princeton, according to a statement from the city’s police department.

After the alleged attacker, identified by law enforcement as Mark Adam Meadows, was handcuffed, the officer reportedly jumped into action to save the father’s life. Police said he had face lacerations and a stab wound to the chest.

Meadows was taken into custody and his father was sent to the hospital, according to police. His condition was not clairifed.

The officer recovered the knife used, which was broken in the attack, police said.
