BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - The West Virginia Division of Highways said Monday it’s moving to plow secondary roads, after finishing the state’s main roads and highways.

As of Monday evening, roads in Bluefield, W.Va. were still in rough shape. According to the state’s deputy state highway engineer Joe Pack, the biggest concern moving forward is snow turning to ice.

“There is still a chance of ice being present once the snow will begin to melt and then refreeze,” said Pack. “So we just always urge caution whenever we’re in the winter months.”

Pack added that in general, he believes road conditions in the mountain state are improving. That’s along with a reminder to remain cautious if driving, especially at night.
