On January 18, 2022, Retired Lieutenant Gregory S. Kade passed away leaving behind his wife Melissa and their three children.

Lt. Kade was born in Beckley, WV and was in the Woodrow Wilson High School graduating class of 1993. He joined the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office in 202 under former Sheriff Daniel W. Moore.

Throughout his law enforcement career, Greg served as a road patrol officer and joined the Special Response Team where he would eventually hold the role of Commander. In addition, Lt. Kade served as the officer-in-charge of the School Resource Division for the past several years of his career.

Lt. Kade retired in 2021 after faithfully serving for almost 19 years. He was also a member of the Family Worship Center where he served as a board member.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to remember his wife, children, and family in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time..


The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) lost one of their own Tuesday morning.

According to a Facebook post from Sunday Jan. 16, RCSO posted that Retired Lieutenant Greg Kade was brought to the hospital due to health problems involving Covid-19, and passed away Tuesday morning.

Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office shared this update on Facebook Tuesday " Please keep the family, friends, and former co-workers of retired Lieutenant Greg Kade in your thoughts and prayers. Lt Kade passed away this morning.”
