BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - There’s a new book available on Amazon called ‘Robert Merrill Gainer: Today’s Legend. Tomorrow’s Legacy.’ It’s written by former educator and author George Erps. He worked in the education field for five decades. Since his retirement in 2014, he’s written several books and co-authored another one. His latest book is about Coach Merrill. He was a Bluefield Beavers football coach. He led his team to five AAA state championships. He also coached the team during their 1959 undefeated season.
In Focus is a community affairs show that airs on WVVA every Sunday at 9 a.m.
