Americans are feeling pain at the pump with gas prices rising to $3.40

MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) -The holiday season means holiday travel, and many motorists this year are paying extra at the pump to fuel their Thanksgiving trips.

48 million Americans are hitting the road for Thanksgiving travel, and are filling up the tanks while tanking their dollars. Gas prices are 62 percent higher than they were at this time last year. As of Monday, The average price for a gallon of gas in the United States was $3.40

We spoke to Thanksgiving travelers today, who told us how these high prices are effecting their holiday plans.

President Joe Biden pledged to release 50 million barrels of oil from the strategic reserves in an attempt to undermine OPEC and bring prices down.

President Biden also said, that this wouldn’t be a fast fix, with some estimates saying the prices won’t see much of a decrease until late December.
