MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) - Two people are dead and another injured after a domestic related incident at a home in Montcalm on Friday.

Chief Deputy Alan Christian with Mercer County Sheriff’s Department says the call came in around 5 p.m. on Methodist Hill Road.

The caller said someone she described as an ex-boyfriend had attacked her and another woman inside the home.

61-year-old Debbie James of Princeton died as a result of her injuries. Christian says an autopsy is pending, but she suffered from blunt trauma and wounds from an edged weapon.

Deputies with Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Police located the suspect nearby. He’s been identified as 45-year-old Christopher Wade. Wade was fatally shot on scene after refusing to surrender to police.

The identity of the injured woman is unknown. WVVA was told that she had blunt force trauma injuries, and has been released from Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

Three officers with Mercer County were put on paid leave, but have since returned to work.
