Fire and chemical spill close south bound lanes of I-77

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - Mercer County dispatch confirms the south bound lanes on I-77 at mile marker three are closed due to a fire and chemical spill stemming from a tractor trailer. It is unclear if the tractor trailer crashed.

Dispatch says the call came in at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday. The tractor trailer was said to be hauling acetic acid. The fire on the tractor trailer has been extinguished and crews are working to clear at least one lane to open travel back up.

It is unclear if there are any injuries. Please check back for updates.
