PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) - In Princeton, local elementary school students learned an important lesson in the classroom today. It centers on an act of kindness and selflessness.

Students at Mercer Christian Academy are starting the giving season early by giving away snack and hygiene bags to those in the community who need them.

“We are packing food for the homeless and sending them to Amy’s House of Hope so they can give them to the people.” - Parker Jones | Student at Mercer Christian Academy

The bags include items such as deodorant, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, breakfast bars, and chips.

The decision to give these bags out was made by the students out of the kindness of their hearts.

“This was the kids. We asked them would you rather have the gift bags for Thanksgiving or would you rather give the bag back to the community and they chose to give to the needy.” - Erica Blankenship | Second-grade teacher at Mercer Christian Academy
