Cloud cover has remained a constant factor this afternoon, which has reduced our chances of seeing severe weather. Nevertheless, we are continuing to monitor today's potentially dangerous weather scenario. We are concerned that thunderstorms in our area may become severe in nature. We will be monitoring three types of threats with these storms, including the possibility of isolated tornadoes, straight-line damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, and hail the size of quarters or larger. If a tornado warning is issued for your area, make sure you are in a sturdy building and go to the inner-most room of the lowest floor of that building. Stay away from windows, and have a means of receiving severe weather updates. We are also concerned about the possibility of localized flooding, and downed power lines. Treat all downed lines as if they were live, and stay away from standing water to avoid the risk of electrocution. Don't cross any road or path that is covered in flood water. Remember, turn around. Don't drown! Things should start to calm down as we close in on the midnight hour, and the severe weather should exit our area by the overnight period. Aside from a few showers tomorrow, our weather turns nice Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the low to mid 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s. Showers may return by the weekend with highs still in the mid 70s.
