Sometimes the news can't merely be reported from the studio; sometimes the story must be brought to you from the action itself! This is where Matt Irvin comes in. Matt is the Satellite Uplink Truck Operator and Videographer for WVVA TV. Originally from Tazewell, VA, Matt cares about getting our area's top news stories to you as they happen.
Matt started broadcasting at the age of 16 at WRIC FM in Richlands, VA, and later came to Bluefield as the host of several radio shows before heading for Nashville, TN where he attended the SAE Institute of Technology and Audio Engineering. After graduation he worked as the morning audio engineer for WSMV-TV in Nashville. Matt has been back in Bluefield since May of 2005 when he gladly accepted the opportunity to operate the area's first permanent satellite uplink truck for WVVA.
Matt is a member of the Tazewell Presbyterian Church. He is also an avid musician and a member of the Audio Engineering Society and in his spare time enjoys writing and playing music, working in the recording studio, restoring old records, and driving his yellow Mustang!
