WVVA Chief Meteorologist Corey Henderson knows how much the weather affects our lives. Growing up on a farm in Macomb, Illinois, where his family raised cattle, corn and beans, he saw first-hand the importance of knowing what the elements might deliver.
Corey's interest in the weather lead him to study meteorology at Western Illinois University, where he graduated in 1995. Following graduation, he worked for WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan. While there, he was kept busy with record snowfalls. Corey joined the NewsChannel 6 team as a forecaster in 1997. Corey has since earned his seal of approval from the American Meteorology Society.
Because of his interest in science, especially weather and physics, forecasting the weather is more than a profession for Corey. He says he loves the challenges and constant change this emerging science presents.
