Greg Carter

Greg Carter anchors WVVA News at 6 and serves as Content Manager. The Tazewell, Virginia native has been with WVVA since 1997.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech.  During high school, he spent three years in Virginia Tech's Upward Bound Program (TRIO) and was awarded the Virginia TRIO Achiever Award for 2006-2007.  He is the 2010 recipient of the Shott Excellence in Media Award issued by Bluefield College. 

Greg can often be found in local schools reading to students or talking about the broadcast television business.  Whether it's distributing food and free school supplies, handing out free winter coats, attending career fairs or calling bingo for senior citizens, Greg has a love for service and always looks for ways to give back to the community. 

Outside of WVVA, Greg is an active member of the worship team at Destiny Outreach Ministries.  Greg is the Executive Director of IMPACT Tazewell County, a volunteer group designed to bring faith-based entertainment and speakers to Tazewell County serving the entire region.  He also volunteers to assist various agencies in the region.

Greg is married and has a daughter, two step-daughters and two dogs.
