Sports : Francisco Segura (Equador)

Francisco "Pancho" Segura was born in Guayaquil, Equador in 1921 and emigrated to the United States during the 1930s.

Segura often is ranked among the best tennis players of all time and is a member of the Tennis Hall of Fame. 

Segura attended the University of Miami on a tennis scholarship and won three consecutive intercollegiate titles in the mid-1940s. He won many championships, including the U.S. Pro Championship in 1950, '51 and '52. In 1952, he enjoyed the No. 1 ranking among professional players.

After retiring as a player, Segura became a teaching pro. Jimmy Connors was among his students.
