BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) The Raleigh County Sheriff's Dept. has a few furry friends joining their ranks.

The department recently acquired three new K-9 dogs. The youngest, Trigger, at just nine weeks old is a tracking dog. The other two bloodhounds, Clutch and Cody, are Narcotic, Apprehension, Tracking, and Article dogs.

According to K-9 unit Supervisor Sgt. W.R. Killen, the new additions will play a critical role in their crime-fighting team.

"It's another tool in our toolbox to be a able to fight the war on crime. When you have a burglary or missing person, that's where Sgt. White's dog will come in. That will bring us to a total of three blood hounds."

The Raleigh County Sheriff's Dept. has seven dogs total on the K-9 team.

On Clutch's first day of work, he helped seize 13 grams of Heroin and $5,100 in cash. Cody also had a good first day, catching 22 grams of Marijuana, three grams of Meth, and several hundred dollars in cash.

The new K-9's will be handled by Sgt. Randy White, Sgt. Bobby Stump, and Lt. Jason Redden.
