Lee Street Studios invites the public behind-the-scenes

Lee Street Studios in Lewisburg invites the public for a behind-the-scenes look at the artist studios.

The gallery and studio hosts the event called Second Saturdays on the second Saturday of each month during the summer. Jeanne Christie of Lee Street Studios says you can show up and get a look inside the artists’ studios while they are painting, weaving, molding, animating, even wood turning, which you may be able to try yourself.

Bob Nickell a woodturner that works out of the West Virginia Woodturners Association studio says, "We will have the shop open and people can come visit and see what we do and even give them some hands on if people wish to try it.”

Artist Elizabeth Goertz describes what you will find in her studio saying, “You will find us working. It’s a working studio and it’s a bit of a mess and we have things all over the place, but it is how it is when we are painting and working in there.” She says she likes the feedback the public brings, "When people come in we’re happy to stop and talk to them and answer questions. We want people to know what we’re up to and get feedback."

At 1 PM ceramic artist Sean O'Connell will be doing a clay demonstration in Studio 10.

From 3 to 4 PM Jeanne Brenneman will be painting watercolor in Studio 6.

Members of the WV Woodturners Association will be doing wood lathe demonstration in Studio 18.

Other Lee Street studios will also be open to visitors.

Second Saturday is held at Lee Street Studios inside the former Lewisburg Elementary School building from 11 to 4 on Saturday afternoon. The address for Lee Street Studios is 232 Lee Street.
