Princeton Rays hold "fan fest" event

Posted:
PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) -

The 2018 Princeton Rays finally made their way to H.P. Hunnicutt Field on Saturday, where they appeared in uniform for the first time.

Fans of the team were invited out to welcome the players.

"It's very nice to have access to the players. In today's society, a lot of that stuff is limited. But this is really good and I think it brings the fans out," said Ryan Stinson, a fan of the team.

But while the fans are excited that their team has finally arrived, the players that make up the roster didn't know that they'd be heading to Princeton until a few days ago.

"I found out probably a week ago. I think it was a couple days after I got drafted. We were going through the signing process and a scout found out I was going to be here," said Stephen Yancy, a pitcher for the Rays.

But even though the players have come from far and wide to get to Princeton, at the end of the day, baseball is baseball, and they're just here to play the sport they love.
