Authorities in Mercer County are offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for the torture of two dogs.

The incident happened on Sunday, May 27 in the Lilly Grove area of county. According to the Mercer County Humane Society, the two animals were dragged behind a vehicle and stabbed. One did not survive.

"It sickened me," said Kim Bay, President of the Mercer County Humane Society. "I was literally sick to my stomach. The deceased dog was stabbed through the heart."

Bay has put up signs, hoping someone will finally come forward with information.

"It's not just an issue for animal rights people," said Bay. "Statistics show those who abuse animals will go on to abuse people."

"Lexi" is still recovering from the ordeal.
