Beckley man set woman on fire in front of children

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) Disturbing new details are released as a man accused of setting his fiancé on fire pleaded guilty to her murder.

Dwayne Lane, 47, of Beckley was indicted by a grand jury in January for murder, gross child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury or death, and domestic battery.

Against the recommendation of counsel, Lane pleaded guilty to all of the charges on Tuesday.

Lane's fiancé, Belinda Cox, died of cardiac arrest on October 4, after police said she was set on fire by Lane. She survived a couple of weeks before passing away at West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller said Lane was caught on camera walking away from Cox as she ran out of the house in a ball of fire as her two children begged for help.

Lane’s sentencing is set for a later date.
