Princeton Rays prepare for 2018 season

The 2018 Appalachian League season begins next week. And while players and coaches won't arrive until this Friday, Princeton Rays General Manager Danny Shingleton still has a lot of items left on his "to-do" list.

"The main thing is trying to get the stadium fixed, all the seats, making sure they're in good working order, making sure the place is clean, you know safety wise, and field wise. You know, making sure the club house for visitors and home are straightened up and ready for these players to get in here and hopefully have a good season," Shingleton said.

While there are a lot of things that need to be done before the start of the season next week, one of the things that the Rays are focusing on is finding more ways to bring fans out to the ballpark.

"A couple things that we are excited about is we are going to have a movie night where we are going to bring a movie screen in behind home plate, and invite all of our fans out on the field to bring chairs and blankets to watch the sandlot. Our last game of the year will be Faith and Family night. We're also going to have a post-game concert by Chosen Road, so that should be pretty exciting. We're pretty excited about it," he said.

But fans of the Rays won't have to wait too long to get a glimpse of the 2018 team.

"On Saturday we're going to have a fan fest. It's going to go from 2-6. Our concession stand is going to be open, a bouncy house, face painting, music, and there's going to be a player autograph session as well," he said.

The Princeton Rays will start their season against Kingsport on Tuesday.
