The All-Southwest District teams for softball and baseball have been named in Virginia, as well as coach of the year honors.
Despite losing in the state championship game on Saturday, Richlands softball head coach Ronnie Davis was named the district's coach of the year.
The All-Southwest District's softball team featured multiple players from our region, as well.
The 1st-team included Richlands star pitcher Mac Osborne, as well as four others from the Blue Tornado in Kaitlyn Baldwin, Chloe Newberry, Ginger Short and Ally Staten. Also featured on the the 1st-team roster was Marrie Lynch and Jewell Ruble from Tazewell. Jessica Street from Graham made the cut as well.
The 2nd-team softball squad featured even more local athletes. Graham's star pitcher Jacilyn Thompson made the cut, and so did Tazewell athletes Alivia Nolley, Kenzie Lambert, Rae White, Megan White and Brooke Rowe. Quite a few Richlands players were honored, too, as Emma Crawford, Lauren Earls and Savannah Stevensen all had 2nd-team honors as well.
And the All-Southwest District baseball squad was named as well. From Richlands, Sidney Willis made the cut, and he is joined by a pair of Tazewell players in Austin Horne and Austin Parker.
The 2nd-team featured JJ Huffman from Tazewell, George Cole and Will Tarter from Richlands, and Cole Clint, Nick Miller and Jack Spencer from Graham.
