OAK HILL, WV (WVVA) -

An Oak Hill woman was arrested after her dog was found to be so malnourished it couldn't stand on its own.

Sheriff Mike Fridley says a Fayette Co. deputy was on patrol when he noticed a dog which seemed to be skinny and sickly. Fayette Co. Animal Control took the boxer breed dog to a local animal hospital. The veterinarian confirmed that the dog was malnourished, registering a 2 out of a possible 9 on the nutrition scale.

The dog's owner, Amber Heater, 36, of Oak Hill turned herself in to the Sheriff's Dept. to answer the animal cruelty warrant obtained on her by the deputy. She was released on bond following her arraignment.
