Medical responders prepared for any I-77 emergencies

The I-77 road rehab project is taking a lot of resources, to ensure better safety for commuters and construction workers.

The Princeton Rescue Squad has put on extra crews during this construction period, providing extra help for emergencies on I-77 and Highway 460.

The Squad says in comparison to 5 accidents this time last year, they've responded to 13 accidents during this construction phase.

Chief Executive Officer Stacey Hicks says the squad is more than prepared to respond for any emergency situation.

"The only thing we did a little bit different was a meeting leading up to this construction," Hicks said. "The meeting was about hazardous materials coming down 460 which wouldn't normally be coming down that route."

Hicks advises all commuters to be aware of commercial trucks along I-77 and Highway 460.
