West Virginia man dies after mining accident

One man has died after a mining accident in Randolph County. The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training confirms in a press release that an incident occurred on Tuesday, June 5th  at the Carter Roag Coal Company, Morgan Camp Mine in Randolph County.

Ronald Taylor, 43 of Belington, WV, was injured during the incident and flown from the mine to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.  MHST says the injuries occurred when the mantrip on which he was riding struck a steel object in the roadway. Taylor later died due to head injuries sustained in the accident. 

Inspectors from the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training are investigating.
