Police on the watch for speeding on 460

The Road Rehab project on the northbound lanes of Interstate 77 has commercial trucks re-routing onto highway 460. But you can also expect to see an increase in the police patrolling the highway during this construction work.

The Princeton Police department has dispatched more officers along the 460 route for speed control and red lights, 12 hours a day.

"We were approached by the contractors concerning some traffic issues and safety issues with people running the red lights," said Tim Gray, Princeton Police Chief. "So they asked us to run more detail there throughout the week."

The main concern, stopping another roadway death.

"We've had fatalities there," Chief Gray said. "That's the last thing we want to happen is someone run a light and have a fatality."

The Princeton Police will continue patrolling during phase 1 of this construction work, but Chief Gray wants drivers to take the construction zones seriously.

"Just be aware, your surroundings are going to be different. Be courteous to the people driving in front and behind you."
