Severe weather caused rockslides, flooded homes and roadways

(WVVA) -

Heavy thunderstorms caused flash flooding and rockslides near the Athens area today in Mercer County along Route 20.

Residents tell WVVA the road is now open. In addition, officials are reporting that Judson Road near Talcott in Summers County is completely caved in, with water flowing over it. Many areas experienced washouts along roadways- be careful while driving. Recently, Stafford Road in Princeton was also reported as flooded.

Remember: Turn around, don't drown if you see water crossing a roadway. It only takes 6 inches of moving water to move a car and knock a person off their feet.

A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for most of Mercer County until 1:15 AM. The Precision Weather Team is working to bring you the latest details in this evolving situation.
