Major traffic expected this weekend in construction zones

Memorial Day Weekend is one of the busiest travel times of the year. The Road Rehab project, from Bluefield to Princeton, is continuing through the weekend, which means more cars and even more traffic.

The Holiday travel day started with commuters attempting to connect onto I-77 North from highway 52 but the exit was closed. Traffic slowed down as drivers tried to figure out another path to the northbound lanes.

Truck drivers taking the re-route onto 460 shared the road with lots of cars. Traffic moved slow as drivers attempted to just get past the stoplights.

One family was traveling out of town from Tazewell, Virginia, and was concerned about coming back home during the holiday rush.

"It's been busy but not as bad as you would think," said Samantha Stiltar. " At least not a lot of traffic yet, wait until Sunday. I know it's going to be busy but I'm hoping its not too much."
