PEIA members gather in Princeton, discuss problems with coverage

PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) -

Prescription drug coverage is a top concern among policy holders of West Virginia's Public Employees Insurance Agency, also known as PEIA.

That's according to West Virginia Education Association President President (WVEA) Dale Lee.

Lee and McDowell County Superintendent Nelson Spencer listened to more than two dozen people who spoke about the hardships they and their families are experiencing due to the failures of the Public Employee Insurance (PEIA). The two men are members of the PEIA task force created by Governor Jim Justice in the wake of the teacher's strike earlier this year. They held a meeting for concerned policy holders at Princeton Middle School Thursday night.

People's comments were videotaped by a representative from the Governor's office.

Information collected during the meeting will be presented to the full  23-member task force and they'll compile everything into their final determination.

The next meeting will be held at Pineville High School on Thursday, May 31. It's scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. PEIA members are urged to attend and share their stories, questions and concerns about PEIA.
