Republican Candidate hopeful after primary lose

It's been 24 hours since we learned the results of yesterday's West Virginia primary.

One big race in our area was the Republican seat for the Mercer County Commission. Three Republicans ran during this primary election, including Jordan Pruett, Roger Topping and the incumbent Gene Buckner.

All three were at the mercer county courthouse before the final results came in, shortly before 9 pm. With almost 2,000 votes, Gene Buckner won the Republican nomination and will face the Democratic candidate Guy Davis Sr. during the November election.

Although Roger Topping lost this primary, he says there's still lots for him to do in the Mercer County community.

"I love this place," Topping said. "I will continue to work on these projects and things that need to be done. I'm not going to quit."
