DHHR offers online applications for child, medical support orders

(WVVA) -

Parents and guardians can now apply for child support services online in West Virginia.

The Bureau for Child Support Enforcement (BCSE) started accepting online applications Monday for the following services:

  • Establishing paternity for minor children
  • New child support orders
  • New medical support orders
  • Enforcing existing child support orders

“We are pleased to offer a new way to apply for child support services,” said Garrett Jacobs, Commissioner of DHHR’s Bureau for Child Support Enforcement.  “We continue to seek new avenues for interacting and communicating with our existing customers and the next generation of parents.”

You must have a valid email address to apply and one of the parties involved must live in West Virginia; either the one who has custody of the child/ children or the one who does not have custody.

According to the news release, official records like birth certificates and court documents can be "easily uploaded."  If additional information is needed, applicants will be contacted by a BCSE representative.

The service is free to use and people can still apply in person at any county Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) location.
