Bluefield Union Mission launches substance abuse program

On Monday, WVVA spoke with Sheila Mullins, a case manager at Bluefield Union Mission. She spoke about a new treatment program that Bluefield Union Mission has launched, which centers around substance abuse.

There are three different components. One will help inform people about the addiction process, the components of addiction and the role of treatment for someone recovering from addiction. The next component is an outpatient substance abuse module for addicts, and the last area involves education family members about addiction.

Bluefield Union Mission has also contacted Mercer Co. Probation and Parole, Mercer Co. Juvenile Probation and Tazewell Co. Probation office for referrals and to collaborate on this project. Right now, Bluefield Union Mission is taking donations to help with their new program. If you'd like to get involved, you can call Bluefield Union Mission at 304-327-8167.
