New airline lands at Greenbrier Valley Airport

LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVVA) A brand new airline is scheduled to land Tuesday at Greenbrier Valley Airport.

United Airlines operated by SkyWest will be offering flights from Lewisburg, W.Va. to Washington-Dulles International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

How do their prices stack-up against nearby airports? WVVA News put their pricing to the test.

According to, a take-off from Charleston's Yeager Airport to Chicago O'Hare in May, 2018, would cost close to $500. That same roundtrip out of Lewisburg could be done for $200.

"I think you'll find the pricing to be very competitive. I don't think there will be a reason for people to want to drive four hours away and pay for parking somewhere else when the parking will be free here," said Airport Dir. Stephen Snyder.

Then there are the savings on parking. It costs nearly $9 a day to park at the Charleston Yeager Airport. Parking at Greenbrier Valley Airport is free.

"United service to Washington-Dulles and Chicago O'Hare. That means international and national travel from this part of West Virginia has never been easier," adds Snyder.

The international flights out of Lewisburg were an even better deal in the trial-booking.  Out of Charleston, a trip to London in May would cost $2,600. That same trip from Lewisburg would only cost $1,000.

The United Airways flights to Washington-Dulles and Chicago O'Hare will run every day. There will also be two flights to Dulles, morning and night, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
