Wyoming East girls fall short in state title quest against North Marion

CHARLESTON, WV (WVVA) -

The Wyoming East girls basketball team entered Saturday's Class AA title game coming off two dominant performances against Lincoln and Wayne searching for their second title in the last three years. They were unable to obtain that goal as they fell to North Marion 72-62. Taylor Buonamici led all scorers with 33 for North Marion.The Huskies claimed their first title since 2011. Kara Sanders and Emily Saunders each had 16 for the Lady Warriors in the defeat. Senior guard Gabby Lupardus who was injured in the Warriors quarterfinal win over Lincoln, checked in late in the fourth quarter and was 2-2 at the free throw line and was then subbed out for. The Lady Warriors finish the season with a record of 22-4.
