Local police officers recognized for efforts to improve highway safety

The West Virginia Coalfields Highway Safety Program held a luncheon Friday to show their appreciation for local police officers and agencies working hard to keep the roadways safe.

The award recognition banquet was held in the McKeever Lodge at the Pipestem State Park.

DUI Enforcement

The WVCHSP would like to commend and recognize the following officers for their outstanding efforts in arresting Impaired Drivers in WV.

Crash Investigations

The WVCHSP commends and recognizes the following officers for conducting the most Crash Investigations in Region 8.

  • Officer Leftwich, Princeton PD
  • Deputy Calloway, Mercer CSO
  • Deputy Farmer, Mercer CSO
  • Officer Angle, Princeton PD
  • Deputy Bish, Mercer CSO
  • Deputy T. Rose, Mercer CSO

The WVCHSP commends and recognizes the following police agencies for conducting the most Crash Investigations in Region 8.

  • Mercer County Sheriff's Department- 496 reports 
  • Princeton Police Department- 239 reports 
  • Wyoming County Sheriff's Department- 188 reports

Electronic Citations

In efforts to streamline data collection, the GHSP implemented an E-Citation program for the state.  The following officers are making an outstanding effort in data collection.

  • Officer Severt, Princeton PD

  • Officer Nunn, Princeton PD

In an effort to save lives by decreasing the number of unrestrained drivers during a crash, the WVCHSP would like to recognize the following officers.

According to Cpl. Adam Ballard with the West Virginia Coalfields Highway Safety Program, the goal of the program is to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities by education, enforcement, and data collection.
