FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WVVA) -

Deputies in Fayette County are warning people to look out for 'skimmers' at local gas stations and ATM and movie rental kiosks.

According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, his agency is currently investigating two people from Florida for possibly using the credit/ debit card scanning devices in the Ames Heights area.

"These individuals had the scanning equipment, computers and blank cards to transfer the bank information to," said Sheriff Mike Fridley. "It is unknown at this point as to if they have had a chance to use the skimmers prior to being contacted by the deputies."

The U.S. Secret Service is assisting in the investigation.

Sheriff Fridley is also urging businesses to constantly check their credit/ debit card machines for 'skimmers.'

"The devices themselves look like credit card swipe devices, but not exactly like the ones factory installed in the machine," said Sheriff Fridley. "If it looks suspicious, don't use it."
