UPDATE: The House Finance Committee has passed legislation funding the proposed agreement between the governor and education leaders. The full House of Delegates is expected to consider the legislation shortly.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVVA) The West Virginia House of Delegates Finance Committee is expected to consider the proposed agreement between the governor and education leaders at 4 p.m. on  Wednesday.

The bill includes a five percent pay raise for teachers and service personnel, and a three percent raise for state workers. Lawmakers said Wednesday the pay increase does not come from any tax increases, but through projected revenue increases from the personal income tax and consumer sales tax.

In order to fast-track the legislation to the Senate for a vote tonight, House members must first secure 80 votes to suspend the rules.

Delegates are expected to take up the legislation at 5 p.m. if the bill  makes it through House Finance.
