Bluefield honors police, fire, for saving young girl

Bluefield Police officers and firefighters were honored today, for how they responded to a call...which saved a young girl's life.

9-1-1 received an urgent call on December 26th about a teenage girl who was found unresponsive in her home. Bluefield Police were the first to arrive on scene, and quickly began administering CPR. When firefighters arrived, they took over the resuscitation...and were able to successfully bring the girl back to life. Reagan, the teen who was saved, helped present Meritorious Awards to the nine first responders who saved her life. Sergeant Kenneth Adams says, "It's a miracle honestly, that she is able to be here with us today. She's a beautiful young lady. The award we got... I mean, everybody appreciates an award... but, in this case, the awards just being able just being able to see her there to give it to us, honestly."

According to Chief Dennis Dillow...The Meritorious Award is an award for "the act of intelligent and valuable service...demonstrating special faithfulness and perseverance."
