Theatre West Virginia holds auditions for summer productions

BECKLEY, WV (WVVA) -

Auditions were held today for those wanting to take the stage for Theatre West Virginia this summer.

The auditions took place in the theater at Tamarack. The theatre will be putting on a total of four productions over the summer season. Those auditioning had to present a 60 second monologue, and sing 16 bars of both a fast and slow song. The auditions went on for about four hours, and theatre West Virginia's artistic director says performers came from miles away to try out. Jason Adkins says, "Now last year, we had individuals coming from the northern part of Ohio. But this year, we did have a few individuals from right around the out of state area. But I do believe that Jonesboro, Tennessee, was the furthest."

Theatre West Virginia's first summer performance will be of Paradise Park on June 15th.
