Fayette County deputies say man dragged victim behind truck he was trying to steal

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WVVA) -

According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, deputies responded to a call Tuesday morning on White Oak Road in the Wriston area of Fayette County.

Sheriff Fridley said Allison Phillips, III attempted to steal a truck from a resident but the owner of the truck clung to it. Phillips dragged the victim behind the vehicle until he crashed into a ditch. Sheriff Fridley said he did attack the victim.

Authorities said Phillips was arrested and attempted to escape from the arresting deputy.

He was unable to be arraigned by the Fayette County Magistrates Office, due to his level of impairment.

“Allison Phillips III, 35 of Oak Hill, was charged with two felonies, Malicious Assault, and Grand Larceny,” said, Sheriff Fridley.  “He was also charged with the misdemeanor crimes of Fleeing, Destruction of Property, Trespassing, Driving While Revoked Due to DUI, Battery, Reckless Driving, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Disorderly Conduct. Phillips was also booked on an outstanding capias out of Fayette County.”

Phillips was taken to the South Regional Jail.
