Raleigh Co. church working to chip away at drug addiction in local communities

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WVVA) -

As the opioid crisis continues to grip the state, a local church in Raleigh County is trying to change the culture of drug abuse within the home.

A program called The SafeHaven Campaign at iHeart Church in Mount Hope is hosting an event for pregnant women or those with young children already, suffering from addiction.

Around 200 women are volunteering their time and energy to pamper moms, and hoping to show them a way out of their addiction.

The SafeHaven Campaign event is open to all pregnant women and mothers of infants in southern West Virginia battling addiction.

It starts Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the church, located right behind Buffalo Wild Wings. The event is free and childcare and food will be provided.
