Police: No verified threat at Independence High School

Deputies in Raleigh County want to put parents and students at ease after receiving multiple reports of a possible threat at Independence High School.

In a release issued by the sheriff's office, it states there has been no verified threat made. It appears the rumor started on social media after someone "stated that they heard a rumor of a possible threat at the school."

Deputies state there is no "actual threat" made at Independence Middle School either.

The situation remains under investigation.  As as precaution, security at both schools have been increased.
