A Fayette County woman was arrested on seven counts of animal cruelty after two dogs were found living without food, shelter, or water.

According to Sheriff Mike Fridley, one dog had a litter of puppies "in which two were deceased." The animals were covered in mud and living around trash and other debris at a residence on Scarbro Road in the Whipple area.

"Once again a tragic case of inexcusable neglect to animals" said Sheriff Fridley.  "Without the call someone made in concern over the dogs,  the whole group would have likely not survived".

The two adult dogs, two deceased puppies and three surviving puppies were taken by animal control.

Amanda Jones, 40, of Scarbro was arrested and arraigned in Fayette County Magistrate Court. Her bond was set at $7,500.
