Bluefield woman charged with driving intoxicated with 2-year-old in car

A Bluefield, West Virginia woman was jailed on multiple charges after police said she was driving intoxicated with a two-year-old in the vehicle.

According to court documents, a patrolman noticed the driver of a Nissan Altima traveling in the middle of College Avenue in Bluefield, then turn onto Farmer Street and "almost hit a vehicle parked on Augusta Street."

The woman failed a field sobriety test and a K-9 unit detected substances near the driver's side door. Police stated the driver consented to a search and they found 10 needles and a spoon with a crushed substance believed to be Dilaudid. 

Mary Scott Bourne, 38, was charged with child neglect creating risk of injury, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving on a revoked license, possession of a controlled substance, and operating a vehicle with expired registration and no insurance. 

Bourne was taken to Southern Regional Jail and bail was set at $10,000.
